The personal trainer that we signed up with was completely dishonest, and outright lied to us.

My husband and I decided to join a gym (retrofitness) and they offer one free day with a personal trainer (hired by eft group not retro) after our free session, he told us we could sign up for $90 a month and there was no early termination fee if we decided we didn't want to continue, and then gave us the paper to sign for there services to "allow them to assign us a personal trainer and everything on the paper was what he just went over with us" but it OBVIOUSLY was not.

We decided after 3 weeks we did not want to continue because they do not do everything they are suppose to, like the meal plans an the workouts only last 15minutes!!! So when I called to try to cancel, they gave me an address and told me I needed to mail a letter, did not mention that it had to be certified, but I researched online and found that it had to be (that is how they are prolonging the cancelation) and then I get a phone call from Brian (the customer service rep) who is the rudest man I have ever spoke with, we then tell me I have to pay $250 to cancel my membership, which I was unaware of any membership!!!!!! So after being irate about this, I cannot find the guy I signed up with at the gym ever and they keep telling me different names of people that I signed up with, I got the name Ryan first and then I was told it was a Nick, and then a get my bank statement and I am charged $219 not $90...they said that was a membership fee...which I was not told about at all and when I signed my credit card information I approved $90 not $219!!!!!! I am not sure how they were able to do this but they did and I have read several blogs and ripoffreports.com about them now, and other have had issues. they are scam artists!

I decided to try a personal trainer and on my 1st day which should of clued me in on how unprofessional he was,I had called him and told him what time I was coming so why when I get there he was already training someone else stuck me on the treadmill for 40min w/out ever checking on me and continued to train the other person in between his socializing and being on his cellphone!! I went off and told him personal trainer means I am paying him for an hour of one on one time! Well needless to say I closed out my acct and they can kiss my A$$ if they think they will ever get a dime from me! He was the only trainer at the time and when I complained to the gym mgmt,my calls went unanswered so they now get the same response!! Planet Fitness opened up not that much later and I am happy there without the BullIsh#$!!

Signed up for personal training in Manassas, VA, worst trainers ever. Stand around talking, on phone while you do repetitions. No cardio, nutrition guidelines or anything provided to help. Very unprofessional.

My girlfriend was a customer of EFT at the Retro fitness in Easton, PA. When she bought a new car, she canceled her trainer and kept her gym membership. However, two months later, she recieved a $200 deduction from her account by EFT. After attempting to get a refund, they told us that someone with the authority to refund would call us the next day. It's been a week and they will not pick up when we call any more.

:(

I also had a terrible experience with EFT. I was completely mislead and taken advantage of. I was lied to in the first place to get my attention. (They told me I had a 30% body fat) I'm in college and am always sensitive about my weight, so I naively believed the recruiter. I was told I could sign up for 3 sessions for only $90, meanwhile I was apparently signed up for a year contract. I tried to call the company and cancel when I was continuing to be charged each month. I was rudely told that I should read before I sign and I'd have to pay $240 to cancel. Needless to say, I had to finish the sessions...$360+ later... I DO NOT recommend signing up for a personal training membership at any Retro. EFT is a scam. I wish I knew before this happened to me.

I signed up with the EFT group thinking I could do 2 months and then stop at any time. I had no idea there was a cancellation fee or mandatory one year contract. I asked about cancelling it and they said I had to send a letter to the company. I did that and never heard from them again. Ridiculous. Read the fine print when signing anything! Def a SCAM

I hate the EFT Group. I was unemployed, and tried to cancel. I called Brian Berman - Customer Service Director everyday until he got tired of hearing from me and granted my wish. Everybody should do that.

I had my doubts about the trainer after the first workout but he was the only one available at that time. After working out for a month I did not see ANY results. When several months later I tried to cancel the membership due to medical reasons, I was told that unless it's a permanent disability (which is not the case for me) they will not cancel it.

I have also had a major problem with this scam company. They lie to you and after you sign the contract you can't get out of it. They take money out of your bank account and when you prove to them that they made a mistake, they still take out more money. Don't believe anything you are told by anyone who works for Retro in Southampton, Pa. You will have to close your bank account in order to stop them from taking your money and then they will call you every night and send your name to a collection agency for money and late fees that are fake. I have been ripped off for over $400.00 and won't get a penny back.
